What this site is
A focused, plain-English reference for diagnosing, testing and replacing throttle position sensors, with diagrams that show what the signal is doing. We cover the generic OBD-II codes, the difference between separate sensors and electronic throttle bodies, costs from published estimates, and the most-searched vehicle makes.
How we choose
- Facts come from named sources. Code definitions and causes come from OBD-Codes.com; the multimeter test follows Fluke’s published guide; costs come from RepairPal, The Drive and Jerry, with dates. Each page lists its sources.
- Specs that vary are labeled. Voltages, pinouts, adjustment and relearn procedures differ by vehicle. Wherever that matters we say so and point you to your service manual.
- No hands-on testing claims. We have not bench-tested the sensors or tools we link to, and we never pretend we have. Brand notes come from maker and distributor pages, and maker claims are labeled as claims.
- No ratings, prices or fake reviews. We do not show star ratings, prices or product photos from retailers. Prices change; check the listing.
- Fitment first. Every buying section tells you to match the part to your VIN or old part number, because that matters more than the brand.
Safety
This site is general information, not a substitute for your vehicle’s service manual or a qualified technician. Work with the engine off, keep clear of moving throttle parts, and never force the throttle plate on an electronic throttle body.
